Buchanan Street, Glasgow

£6m

Princes Square is an iconic building, a centre of quality and distinction where the emphasis is firmly on style. The building is Grade B listed and acts as a focus for shopping, eating and relaxing in the city of Glasgow. It provides a meeting place at the confluence of new and existing pedestrian routes and boasts the potential for hosting exhibitions and events.

We have been appointed by Redevco to undertake a ‘refresh’ scheme which will enhance the experience of Princes Square and reinforce it’s status as the premier upmarket shopping and leisure destination, not only for Glasgow but for the whole of Scotland.

Our objective is to develop a proposal for the refurbishment which will demonstrate a clear and workable vision which is creative, exciting, deliverable and commercial. We aim to reinforce and further exploit the centre’s unique combination of location, accessibility, exclusive retail brands, bars/restaurants and central ‘amphitheatre’; all of which knit together to provide a vibrant mixed use environment associated with quality and excellence that can be enjoyed beyond the normal operational hours of a shopping centre.
Our proposals will bring Princes Square up to date using cool contemporary materials which complement and sit alongside the existing fabric and positioning the centre once again at the leading edge of retail design.

We will also rework the circulation to make intelligent use of all spaces and promote appropriate customer flow. Using light, views and texture twe aim to enhance the theatrical aspect of the Centre whilst ensuring that retailers are showcased in the best possible manner.

The scheme is not limited to internal areas and also seeks to attract footfall by incorporating design-led interventions to the Buchanan Street elevation and Springfield Court to the rear which will create visual interest whilst reinforcing the Princes Square brand.
