In 2004, PMP were successful in bidding for a commission to advise Donaldson’s Trust on the potential relocation from their existing historic A-Listed building to a new facility to be developed in Linlithgow. PMP provided strategic Project Management relocation advice through the Feasibility Study and were then formally appointed to select a full Design Team to provide environmentally sensitive, landmark buildings to take Donaldson’s and its pupils through the 21st century. The project involves provision of new sports, swimming and teaching facilities, residential accommodation and full specialist deaf facilities for not only the pupils of Donaldson’s College but with access to the wider community in West Lothian. The project is part Lottery funded. It was of the utmost importance to Donaldson’s Trust that the new building to be provided effectively replaced the iconic Playfair building in the West of Edinburgh and the selection process for the Design Team weighed heavily on the design capability of the various consultants. Special issues have included appropriate design to suit the semi-rural location, provision of state of the art facilities for the deaf, autistic and community use and sustainability features including full recycling of rainwater. PMP provided Project Management services on this complex development, together with ongoing strategic advice in managing the condition of the existing listed building to an agreed standard prior to handover to its purchaser. |
