This Bar / Restaurant complex comprises three adjoined buildings, one timber clad and the other two in traditional white harling. The fragmentation of the buildings both breaks down the scale of the development and structures / encloses outside ‘rooms’.

We have worked closely with interior designers, United Designers to achieve a bespoke, site responsive solution for a building type which is so often stale and generic.

In terms of form, material palette, scale and articulation it is a contemporary re-working of the Scottish vernacular. The building is carefully positioned on the site so that internal and external spaces take advantage of views and southerly aspect. Both the approach and the routes through the interior and exterior spaces are carefully staged. The sudden opening of views, flooding of light and connection between spaces designed to provide drama and a sense of place.
