Retail / Visitor Centre Tullibardine

Client:
Kenmore

Location:
Blackford, Perthshire

Budget:
£4.15m

Status:
Completed

This new build retail and refurbishment visitor centre for Tullibardine Distillery is located in Blackford in Perthshire. The commission consisted of demolishing an existing bonded warehouse to accommodate six new retail units and refurbishing and converting the remaining bonded warehouses into a visitor attraction, providing a total of 50,000 sq ft of retail space.

As well as accommodating distillery tours the visitor centre comprises both retail and café facilities. The new build retail units provide the anchor tenant with 25,000 sq ft of retail and restaurant accommodation with a further 15,000 sq ft given over to retail for other tenants focused on quality Scottish produce.

The aesthetic of the new build closely follows that of the converted part of the distillery. Contemporary materials and fenestration compliment the simple distillery vernacular. Large openings, distinct roof lines and crisp, white render offer a simplicity that is respectful of its surroundings whilst at the same time allowing the building to be seen from afar.
