The Printworks at Warriston Road in the Powderhall area of Edinburgh was used by George Waterston and Sons from 1898, when it was built, until 2002 when it was sold to Edinburgh-based property developers AMA. Today the building is being transformed into 19 luxury apartments, due for completion in mid-2008.
The scheme features secure parking on the ground floor and shared south-facing landscaped gardens along with the usual high level of internal specification buyers have come to expect of this developer. Several of the properties have terraces or balconies. Two extensions have been added and these are sensitive modern additions clad in render and timber.
The apartments within the existing building are especially generous in their proportions with living areas enjoying views over the Water of Leith and incorporating original cast iron columns and high windows and ceilings which combine to create an ambience of 'loft living'.
